Artists often turn to their practices and materials to mourn, to be held, and to make sense of the world. In the process, we are all reminded that death and regeneration are the natural order of things—and that, like a germinating seed, renewal lays bare new futures. Curated by Brooke Toczylowski

In this workshop we will learn to sew our own coptic stitch journal to take home with us. We will then experiment with visual journaling and mindfulness strategies for staying informed, making sense of, and resisting the rise of censorship, fascism, and othering.
Tea & snacks will be served. Ages 12+, Sliding Scale, $20 – $50, plus $5/materials.
This is a fundraiser event supporting the local arts community. The Hartford ArtSpace Gallery is 100% volunteer run. Proceeds from this workshop will support the production costs of the Cracked Open exhibit, the Tao LaBossiere Artist Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, and 10% will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union.
This exhibit would not be possible without the dedicated volunteer work of Tao and Amy LaBossiere. Please support us by donating to the Tao LaBossiere Artist Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
